New London High School Band

Adam Hardt is currently the high school band director in the New London School District where he has taught for 14 years. A graduate of the University of Stevens Point, he studied percussion performance and music education. Adam currently is playing with the Bay City Swing big band in Green Bay as well as other assorted groups. As an educator Adam is a clinician and music camp coordinator throughout the state. He has been coordinator and rhythm section coach for the Wisconsin State Honors Jazz Band for three years, and music director for the Lawrence University Jazz Camp.

First Semester student teachers will be…..Ken Wiele and Kelly Eschbaugh.   They will be assisting Mr. Hardt with our band students throughout the semester.  We welcome them!!

The Band Boosters are a group of parents whose role is to support the high school band program through organizing events and provide Mr. Hardt with help throughout the school year.

Band Booster Calling committee

During the year, you will be receiving phone calls for opportunities to volunteer through helping out at events or providing food donations for various functions.

Seniors - Linda Knuth.

SEPTEMBER 8 and 9- Uniform organization and Hand-out


SEPTEMBER 11 - Fall Family Festival - Downtown New London

Band Boosters set up a booth beginning around and ending when the festival closes. We sell chicken sandwiches and beverages. We have openings available for the following shift times: , ,  to close (usually between 3 and )


SEPTEMBER 17 - Parent/Alumni Band Night
Parents, former band students, parents of former band students and current band members are invited to this potluck picnic. Band boosters provide brats, hotdogs, beverages, condiments and dinnerware. Everyone else attending is asked to bring a dish to pass and their instruments. They will perform a song at halftime on the field.


SEPTEMBER 18 - Readfield Parade


OCTOBER 15 - Homecoming - the band will be performing in the parade in the afternoon as well as the halftime show at the game that night.


OCTOBER 23 - Big Band Dinner Dance (A Night At The Cotton Club)

The Jazz Band sells tickets to this sit-down lasagna dinner and performs big band music. There is a dance floor for guests and there is generally another band that performs as well. Jazz II students serve tables during the evening. Band boosters provides dinner setup, kitchen support and cleanup for this event. This event will take place at the High School.


OCTOBER 27 - Parent/Teacher conferences - stop by and meet Mr. Hardt. If you cannot make it on the 27th, there are additional conferences on November 15 and 18.

Things All Band Parents Should Know…

1. There is a $10 uniform cleaning fee that needs to be paid ASAP. After the 1st semester, there will   be an additional $5 late fee assessed if not paid.

2. White gloves are needed for parades. These can be purchased at Island Music in New London. Santa hats are needed for the Appleton and New London Christmas parades.

3. There will be some early morning marching practices in October to prepare for the Homecoming show.

4. Attire for band concerts are white tops and black bottoms, black socks, and black shoes.

5. Bus transportation is provided for all events.  Departure times for all of the events will be posted on the website.


Spring Band Trip---Orlando Florida

This year, the Band will be taking a trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida,  April 6 -12,  2011. Look for more information to come as the year progresses.


Fund Raising Opportunities

**Fruit Sale --- All band students are asked to sell fruit.  A portion of

funds raised by the band students can be put towards their band trip expenses.

New London High School Jazz Bands

NLHS is fortunate to have 2 jazz bands that perform throughout the school year. Jazz I rehearses every morning at during early bird class time and will be performing at the Fall Family Festival on September 11 and Big Band Dance and Dinner on October 23, as well as at festivals at Lawrence University, UW-La Crosse, UW Stevens Point, and Sun Prairie. Jazz II rehearses every Tuesday from to and will take part in concerts.

Band Booster Meetings…

We warmly welcome you, our parents, to become involved in Band Boosters!!  Our Band Booster meetings are held the 2nd Monday of each month at in the band room. We are always looking for input and new ideas from ALL of you!
